A Long Overdue Update

I cant believe that its been that long since I updated my blog so I will have to delve into my memory banks and see what I can remember about the last 6 months.

The Cod session started early last year with a return of the previous year class of fish but they were now in the 5 to 8lb range as normal with Chesil its those anglers who put the hours in had the best results together with those who live nearby and have local knowledge. There did seem to be more caught at the Portland end in the deeper water and plenty of nice sized whiting in with them

One big surprise was a British record stingray weighing in at 60lbs plus you don,t often hear of many of those caught from Chesil let alone that size. Rays also made an appearance in the Christchurch Area a lot of double figure undulates taken and a few small eyes as well.

Poole Harbour fished well for flounders perhaps better than in previous years. Sandbanks also had a good run of plaice if you kept out of the dog walkers and their pets!!! not the place to erect your beach buddy

Southbourne as normal had its good and bad days a few big bass were taken biggest one i heard of was over 12lb caught inside the groynes

As I type this the plaice season looks like it is just starting as the water clears a few have been taken but are still thin but hopefully over the summer they will put on some weight and be ready for Autumn when they are at their best.

Castyourlead has been busy with group lessons as well as work with the AT England junior squad and the talent pathway so my fishing has been on the back burner for a while but hopefully should be able to get out a bit more thuis year
